The Lancaster County unemployment rate increased in July for the third straight month, hitting 6.9 percent, the state said Monday. By rising from June’s 6.7 percent, the jobless rate hit its highest mark since December, erasing months of progress in the process. The new pattern has deflated the hope that unemployment here would slowly but steadily retreat as the economy strengthened.

Lemoyne Sleeper is closing its factory and its three company-owned stores, including one here. Shutting its doors locally will be the 834 Plaza Boulevard store, opposite Park City Center. Also closing are its Lemoyne and Lebanon locations, a company spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday.

In total, the idling of the factory and stores will result in the loss of about 45 jobs.

unemployment signThe economic recovery is blazing along in Lancaster County PA, or not. The jobless rate for the county fell a mighty .1 percent, from 7.6 to 7.5 percent in November.

It appears we cause to rejoice: at least one dude found a job in November.

G&C Automotive in Ephrata should be avoided for your automotive repairs. This small, husband and wife, shop suggests that they do complete automotive repair. However, the principal and only mechanic specializes in Toyota and gives other makes only minor treatment. Generally, G&C is unwilling to go the distance in exploring and solving a perplexing problem if he doesn’t understand the make. Conversely, past garages I have used would persist in problem solving.
