As deadline passes, Old Mill Road bridge replacement project in Ephrata PA remains unfinished

As of today, December 1, 2009, The Old Mill Road (Ephrata, PA) bridge replacement project remains unfinished contradicting the optimism and prophesying of the Lancaster County Planning Commission. In a document dated mid-November, the Planning Commission estimated the bridge project would be complete by November 2009 (see entry dated 25 November).

The picture above was taken mid-morning on December 1 from the Ephrata Library side of the project. The good news is that there was actually some work being done. The tractor backhoe in the top center of the photo was operating. The bad news, however, is two-fold. First, as often noted in the blog, there were no other construction workers to be found at the project. Second, of course, is the simple fact that the bridge is not completed and appears to have a significant distance to go.

Again, this is another fine example of our tax dollars wasted on government inefficiency and overpaid, lazy contractors and their workers.
